Chronic Pain

Our chronic pain specialist works with our clients to develop strategies for handling their pain.  These may include lifestyle changes, dietary restrictions, neuro-blocker injections and other strategies.  Specialists in psychology, psychiatry, behavioral science, and other areas may also play an important role in a comprehensive pain management program.

Orthopaedic Surgery

Our orthopaedic surgeon assesses and treats our clients' conditions involving the musculoskeletal system including, but not limited to, bone fractures. Our orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma resulting from an accident.

Our neurologists treat our clients who suffer from disorders of the nervous system, including the brain and spinal cord.  Through the most advanced medical techniques, they assess the underlying problem, recommend treatment and prescribe medication for our clients.

TMJ Services

These services are for our clients who suffer from jaw pain or who have disorders which affect their ability to chew, speak or eat.  Our TMJ specialists work with our clients to explore surgical and non-surgical solutions to their pain and discomfort.  In many cases, TMJ disorders can be managed without resorting to surgery.

Sleep Study

Sleep disturbances are common following a motor vehicle accident.  We offer our clients the opportunity to participate in a sleep study to record what happens to their body during sleep.  We measure brain activity, eye movement, heart rate, breathing rate and air flow to measure sleep efficiency and to identify areas of concern.  Our professionals then use the results of these studies to design and implement an effective treatment plan to restore our clients' sleep-wake cycle.

Functional Abilities Evaluation

A Functional Abilities Evaluation (FAE) is a specific assessment performed by a registered physiotherapist, occupational therapist, or kinesiologist to help identify a client's physical work tolerances.  The report outlines specific limitations our clients may face in returning to work.  It can help to focus rehabilitation services to ensure a timely return to work for our clients.

Occupational Therapy (Attendant Care, Form 1)

Following an accident, some of our clients are eligible for attendant care benefits.  These benefits are payable to our clients for expenses related to services provided by an aide.  Our occupational therapists assess our clients' needs and complete a Form 1 in accordance with the requirements laid out by the insurance company.  All assessments are done in a timely manner to ensure that our clients are receiving the help that they need.

Application for Catastrophic Impairment (OCF19)

In order to meet the definition of catastrophic impairment following a car accident, a licensed doctor must complete and submit an OCF-19 form.  This form is called an Application for Determination of Catastrophic Impairment.  If deemed Catastrophic, our clients are eligible for a greater amount of accident benefits, which allows them access to greater funds for treatment, attendant care and more.  We help our clients during their application process and connect them with the specialists that help them support their claim.

Speech Language Pathology

Our speech language pathologists are highly trained individuals who work with our clients to treat cognitive and physical disorders which affect their ability to communicate.  Some of the things they focus on are speech delays, language comprehension, fluency disorders and social communication skills.

Social Work Services

Our social workers help to improve our clients' quality of life and enhance wellbeing by providing counseling services for the individual and their families.  They will help to connect the client to important resources available to them and to reintegrate them into the community.

Medical Legal Services

Spine Health Care Clinic offers a wide range of medical-legal evaluations.  We provide detailed reports for legal practices that become a valuable tool during legal negotiations.  Our evaluations are completed by unbiased, experienced professionals with a fast turnaround time.  Our team of doctors and health care practitioners create in depth reports that are evidence based and defensible in court.

Our professionals are capable of completing the following evaluations and assessments:

Future Care Cost Analysis Vocational Assessments
Medical Legal Evaluations Disability Evaluation
Economical Loss Analysis Capacity Assessment
Job Site Analysis Diagnostic Imaging

Future Care Cost Analysis

This assessment is done to evaluate our clients' disability and to document their extraordinary needs caused by the onset of disability.  The report is prepared by one of our licensed experts based on a review of past and present medical and functional status taken from medical records, consultation with health care providers and family members.

Medical Legal Evaluations

This evaluation provides a thorough legal explanation of the injured individual's rehabilitation treatment and financial loss.  It includes appropriate documents and reports for use in court cases.

Economical Loss Analysis

Our team of experts and health care professionals complete a comprehensive analysis of an injured individual's economic loss in order to provide a thorough report.  This helps the individual obtain proper reimbursement for their claim.  Attendant Care Needs Assessment (Form 1) is also completed in this analysis by our occupational therapists.

Job Site Analysis

Our licensed practitioners will analyze and document aspects of our clients' pre-accident job that may affect their ability to return to work.  They will identify postures, movements, loads and other physical demands of each job task.  The physical environment in which the job occurs is also documented, including work station dimensions and layout, equipment, tools and any other factors which affect workers.

Vocational Assessments

This type of examination is usually performed by a psychologist experienced in occupational issues.  The goal is to demonstrate our clients' current physical and psychological status relative to their pre-accident level of functioning and potential future occupations.

Disability Evaluation

For non-psychiatric medical illness, this evaluation is designed to define our clients' medical diagnoses in order to suggest investigations that are needed to make a firm diagnosis.  Our assessors will determine if the condition is medically disabling and recommend treatment options if necessary.  This evaluation helps our team to create a return to work plan and determine what, if any, accommodations are required.

Capacity Assessment

A Capacity Assessment is the formal assessment of a person's mental capacity to make decisions about their property and personal care.  For our clients who have been seriously injured in an accident, this is vital to their loved ones to ensure that their rights are protected.

Diagnostic Imaging

Following a motor vehicle accident, there is always a possibility of serious injury that can only be seen using the proper diagnostic imaging equipment.  We help to connect our clients to the imaging specialists they need to get an accurate idea of the extent of their injury and to recommend the best course of treatment.
