Chronic Pain

Our chronic pain specialist works with our clients to develop strategies for handling their pain.  These may include lifestyle changes, dietary restrictions, neuro-blocker injections and other strategies.  Specialists in psychology, psychiatry, behavioral science, and other areas may also play an important role in a comprehensive pain management program.

Orthopaedic Surgery

Our orthopaedic surgeon assesses and treats our clients’ conditions involving the musculoskeletal system including, but not limited to, bone fractures. Our orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma resulting from an accident.

Our neurologists treat our clients who suffer from disorders of the nervous system, including the brain and spinal cord.  Through the most advanced medical techniques, they assess the underlying problem, recommend treatment and prescribe medication for our clients.

Our rheumatologists deal with musculoskeletal disease and systemic autoimmune conditions commonly referred to as rheumatic diseases. These diseases can affect the joints, muscles and bones causing pain, swelling, stiffness and deformity.

Our physiatrists, or rehabilitation physicians, are nerve, muscle, and bone experts who treat injuries that affect how you move. Rehabilitation physicians are medical doctors who have completed training in the medical specialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R).  They are overall experts in treating our clients’ disabilities that prevent them from returning to their pre-accident levels of health.

Our neuropsychologists are concerned with how the brain and the rest of the nervous system influence our clients’ cognitions and behaviors. They are focused on how injuries or illnesses of the brain, which are common following car accidents, affect cognitive functions and behaviors.

TMJ Services

These services are for our clients who suffer from jaw pain or who have disorders which affect their ability to chew, speak or eat.  Our TMJ specialists work with our clients to explore surgical and non-surgical solutions to their pain and discomfort.  In many cases, TMJ disorders can be managed without resorting to surgery.

Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapists work with our clients to reestablish their activities of daily living following an accident.  They will help to modify a client’s environment by eliminating barriers and recommending appropriate assistive devices or even home modifications.  They focus on modifying tasks and providing education for the client and their family to allow our clients to return to the activities that are important to them.

At Spine Health Care Clinic, we know that rehabilitation is not only physical.  We work with our clients and their families to heal all of their injuries following their accident including any psychological disorders.  Our highly trained and professional psychiatrists work with our clients to study, diagnose and treat mental disorders that occur as a result of their motor vehicle accident.

Speech Language Pathology

Our speech language pathologists are highly trained individuals who work with our clients to treat cognitive and physical disorders which affect their ability to communicate.  Some of the things they focus on are speech delays, language comprehension, fluency disorders and social communication skills.

Our psychotherapists work with our clients to increase well-being and mental health by resolving maladaptive behaviors, thoughts and emotions.  Through one-on-one sessions different cognitive techniques are used to address our clients’ needs and to improve interpersonal functioning.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive impairment is common in motor vehicle accidents.  Our behavioral therapists will help achieve functional changes by reinforcing, strengthening or re-establishing previously learned patterns of behavior.  They may also help to establish new patterns of cognitive activity or compensatory mechanism for impaired neurological systems.

Social Work Services

Our social workers help to improve our clients’ quality of life and enhance wellbeing by providing counseling services for the individual and their families.  They will help to connect the client to important resources available to them and to reintegrate them into the community.

Internal Medicine

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of adult diseases.  Our internists are skilled in the management of patients who have undifferentiated or multi-system disease processes.  Our internists care for ambulatory clients and play a major role in providing education regarding treatment and prevention of further injury.

Geriatric Medicine

Geriatrics or geriatric medicine is a specialty that focuses on health care of elderly people.  It aims to promote health by preventing and treating diseases and disabilities in older adults.

Home Modifications

Being comfortable in your own home is important when you have suffered a severe injury.  We work closely with several licensed professionals that will modify our clients’ homes to make them more accessible.  Examples of home modifications include: ramps, stair glides, bathroom modifications, grab bars and elevators.  Our team will also provide in home education and training for proper use of all equipment.

Driver Road Program

This program is designed to address driver and passenger anxiety that many of our clients develop following their accident.  It combines exposure therapy with driving simulations to help our clients address and overcome their fear of driving or of being a passenger in a vehicle.

Return to Work Program

This program will help injured individuals return to productive and safe employment as soon as physically possible.  Returning to work is seen as an important part of an individual’s therapy and recovery.

Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathy is a form of alternative medicine employing a wide array of natural modalities, including homeopathy, herbalism, and acupuncture, as well as diet nutrition and lifestyle counseling.  Our naturopaths work with our clients to develop non-invasive treatment plans and avoid the use of surgery and drugs whenever possible.
